DIY PORE-CLEANSING PEEL-OFF MASK
When I was a kid I used to cover my hands in school glue, let it dry and then peel it off. It was so satisfying and I get the same sort of gratification when I use this DIY peel-off mask on my face!
As a bonus, (as if just peeling something off your face wasn’t fun enough), this easy DIY peel-off mask will pull the dirt, oil and impurities right out of your pores. This gelatin mask may even pull out a blackhead or two!
DIY PEEL-OFF MASK
Of course, when you’re using your DIY peel-off mask you’re also going to pull some other things off your face, namely that superfine peach fuzz that we all have a little of on our faces. For me, this is no big deal, but just be careful not to apply this peel-off mask on any patches of hair that you don’t want to part with.
I use this DIY pore-cleansing peel-off mask about three times a month and find that this is often enough for me to enjoy the blackhead-busting benefits without damaging my skin.
If you have particularly sensitive skin you may want to test a small area of your face before coating the whole thing with the gelatin mask mixture to make sure that it isn’t going to be too harsh for your skin. It’s no problem at all for me, but better safe than sorry!

An important thing to keep in mind, if you have tiny hairs or peach fuzz on your face or in the general area you’ll be applying, try to avoid those spots (unless you're okay with this hair being ripped out!), this goes for eye brows and the edges of your hair line as well. The mask is designed to pull impurities out of your pores and will do the same with hair. I’m sure that wouldn’t feel the best. Even though the left over concoction hardened to the mini bowl, it slipped right out a little later after soaking in some water-so don’t stress if it seems like its stuck in your dish.

INGREDIENTS
- 1 tablespoon or 1 packet unflavored gelatin. You can usually found in the baking or canning aisle of your local grocer. You do not want to use JELL-O or flavored gelatin.
- 1 to 1.5 tablespoons of milk or almond milk. I used unsweetened almond milk.
- Combine the two ingredients until the powder has dissolved and then heat in the microwave for about 10 seconds, I probably only needed to do 8 seconds, but it started to cool quickly (and harden) so it was fine. Apply right away (when the temp is safe and comfortable), I used a small smooth rubber spatula for this and it worked perfectly-all while keeping my hands tidy.
- Leave on until it has dried all over then start at one edge and gently pull off. I found it easiest to start by removing the mask at the top of the bridge of my nose and pulling down in one section and then up for my forehead. Applying a thicker, even, coat will help in removing the mask. For the edges that might be a little thinner, especially if you aren’t concerned about clearing pores in those areas, you can use a warm wash cloth to remove the left over mask or wash it off in the shower. I opted for the shower and it melted away in seconds. Follow with a light moisturizer or a dab of coconut oil. My face was super soft after using this pore-clearing peel-off face mask!
